Well, what a difference in the weather today, the sun is shining, there's a lovely breeze to dry the washing and I took it upon myself today to clean out a few kitchen cupboards.....................doesn't everything seem so much more accomplishable when the sun's shining.
I've just discovered the amazing cleaning properties of Soda Crystals after reading Tina's lovely blog, I added some teatree shower gel (a christmas gift but I'm unable to use this as I'm such a sensitive soul) to make some bubbles and give the cupboards a lovely fresh scent.
Oh the joy of a tidy clean cupboard, and isn't it amazing how everything now fits in quite neatly, whereas before the clean, I only had to open the cupboard door and pots and baking tins would roll all over the kitchen floor.
And to make this sunny day even more special I had a parcel in the post from the lovely Emma, I won her giveaway over at Moo And Mouse.................some lovely Rowan Kidsilk Haze in pretty shades of pink and green, a lovely floral card and some yummy Easter chocolates................and the most beautiful perfect pot holder, all hand qulited and blanket stitched.
Such neat handstitching and I love the pretty applique cup and saucer............this will hang in my kitchen as it's much too lovely to use and spoil. Thank you so much Emma.
I have been doing a little stitching of my own but it's a secret for OH so can't say too much, but here's a little peek.
Oh well back to cleaning those cupboards, then this afternoon I'll work a few more secret stitches.
Hope the sun's shining where you are, lily x

Not just me itching to get the Spring cleaning under way then Lily! Lovely clean cupboard, and what a lovely win too, the wool looks so soft! x
ReplyDeleteI think I could be the "before photos". No sun and the pots are still liable to tumble out when the cupboard door opens.
ReplyDeleteThat wool looks super soft and what a lovely pot holder.
I really need to tackle my kitchen cupboards too, as well as the drawers. What a wonderful prize, Kidsilk Haze is so soft, I used it to knit some scarves and I've still got some in my stash too. The pot holder is beautiful, obviously made with love. Enjoy your stitching.
ReplyDeleteSoda crystals are amazing, I use them for everything. I'm glad your parcel arrived so quickly and that you like it, I was sure I had some purple kid silk haze too but I couldn't find it.
ReplyDeleteWhat ever you're stitching for OH looks beautiful, lovely soft colours and amazingly neat stitches, I hope you show it finished.

Hi Lily...I like the idea of the blanket stitch on the pot holder. It is a nice alternative to binding. That was really a nice prize to receive in the mail.
ReplyDeleteIt was shining but it's gone in now but at least it's still mild!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the spring cleaning (I'm feeling all righteous because mine is all finished)! ;)
Your little cross stitch is so neat, looking forward to the reveal!

The sun never makes me want to clean.. I'd rather be out walking!! Your project for OH looks really lovely. Jx
ReplyDeleteIts a great feeling when you get some cleaning done - then you can enjoy the rest of the day!
ReplyDeleteLiz @ Shortbread & Ginger
Lily you have inspired me to have a little go at cleaning - maybe tomorrow - lol!
ReplyDeleteL.x.
Those basic, traditional cleaning materials are still the best. I use soda crystals too. We get so suckered by modern marketing about the 'new and imnproved'.
ReplyDeleteLove your win. Congratulations!
Oh dear, you have reminded me that my own cupboards are in dire need of some love and attention. However, I did clean the fridge recently, so one Brownie point!
ReplyDeleteKitchens must be calling to lots of aides this week, I pulled put the under the sink one and did that, boy was it a mess!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous parcel from Emma, the wool looks real lush and the pot holder is really pretty.
Nice start on the secret project for hubby.

ReplyDeletecome on over !!!! I H A T E to clean up...and so I put it off and then it is really bad...it seems like I would learn, doesn't it??? Perhaps your good ideas with help me out. After all, smelling better is an incentive.
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely blog Lily, I'm so glad you visited me so I could find you! You have inspired me to get some housework done today and I love your secret stitching. What are soda crystals? Wendy
ReplyDeleteoh yes, I've been feeling the cleaning urge too! And today was sunny, but I was in the office, editing. Oh well. I've got laundry going to hang out in the sun tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteYour post made me smile because i have a very similar "pan cupboard ,nothing ever really fits and pans just get shoved in then they all fall out in a heap when you open the door and usually on you toe !! xx
ReplyDeleteYou made me laugh when you referenced the spilling of the cupboard contents prior to cleaning... You mean other people's do that to? :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your win. What a lovely lot. I'm loving the springtime colors of the kidsilk!
Blessings, Debbie
